The Portuguese striker, and five times Ballon D’or holder has become the subject of transfer gossip after Juventus (Bianconeri) was knocked out from UEFA Champions League by F.C Porto from Portugal. This is the second time Juventus is knocked out from Champions League at the 16 fixtures consecutively. Though the striker gave his best during the match, the media has consistently accused him of being flop and failed to help his team to proceed at the quarter final games regardless his contributions in the entire game.

It was devastating moment to the Juventus players and staffs, but more specifically to the world class striker who really wanted to prove to the people who often criticize him basing on his age that he is one of the best players in the world. The 36-year old went back home with ambition and determination to focus on defending the Serie A title and Italian Cup final as he posted on Instagram.

“More important than the number of falls you take in life, is how fast and how strong you get back on your feet… True champions never break! Our focus is already in Cagliari Calicio, in the Serie A struggle, the Italian Cup Final and in everything that we can still achieve in this season.” Wrote on his Instagram account.

He continued, “It’s true that the past belongs in the museums (I should say!), but fortunately, football has memory… and so do I! History can’t be deleted, it’s written every single day with resilience, team spirit, persistence and lots of hard work. And those who don’t understand this, will never achieve glory and success.”

The former Real Madrid shining star is disappointed by how the media neglecting his contribution to the team and focus only on few unsuccessful moments. Yes, he has not been performing effectively in the recent games, but he already assisted his team to close the gap and now they are one point behind the second place on the table. Cristiano has so far scored 23 goals in Serie A including the hat-trick against Cagliari on last Sunday. It will be so illogical to just ignore different things he has achieved in the world of football.

The winning attitude and passion enabled the Portuguese striker to score the incredible header from Juan Cuadrado’s corner after jumping beyond Alessio Cragno after just 10 minutes of the game. Juventus kept pressuring the opponent side until they were awared a penalty in which the goal machine converted it into the second goal for the away team at 25th minutes of the game. Federico Chiesa, who scored twice last Tuesday against F.C Porto assisted Ronaldo with a pass just inside the area, and the Bianconeri hero dribbled the ball to find his way and put the ball to the net with his left foot to complete his 57th hat-trick.

Andrea Pirlo’s side didn’t want to make any mistake after their rival Inter Millan who hosted Torino hardly won 2-1 with late goal from Martinez Lautaro. Inter Milan has of course won their past eight games and now are nine points ahead at the top and that is the line which both Juventus and AC Milan will not easily close.

When Juve was enjoying their successful journey to Cagliari, Cristiano was breaking another world record where so far scored 770 goals, and surpasses a Brazilian legend Pele who netted 767 times in his career.  The Brazilian legend didn’t hesitate to express his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo as he mentioned on his Instagram page. “Life is a solo flight. Each makes his own journey. And what a beautiful journey you are having. I admire you a lot, I love watching you play and this is no secret to anyone. Congratulations on breaking my record of goals in officials matches,” Pele posted on Instagram.

However, some reports claim this world record tally has not yet broken due to the fact that the Czech Football Association insists that former Austria and Czechoslovakia striker Josef Bican is the all-time top scorer with 821 goals in football history. In the meantime, data from Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) indicates that Bican has totally scored 805 goals in his career though 27 goals among them were scored when he was playing for Rapid Vienna’s reserve and amateur teams and they cannot be officially counted. Therefore, he said to have scored 759 goals in his career and fall behind Ronaldo and Pele respectively.

After much speculations last few weeks, Ronaldo now admitted to acknowledge the record. He explained on Instagram after the game against Cagliari, “The last few weeks were filled  with news and stats considering me the world’s top scorer in football history, overcoming Pele’s 757 official goals,”. He added, “Although I’m thankful for that recognition, now it’s time for me to explain why I didn’t acknowledge that record until this moment.”

He continued, “My ever-lasting and unconditional admiration for mister Edson Arantes do Nascimento [Pele], such as the respect that I have for mid-20th century football, led me to take into account his 767 score, assuming his nine goals for Sao Paulo State Team, as well his single goal for the Brazilian Military Team, as official goals, but this doesn’t mean that we can just erase history according to our interests.

“Today, as I reach the 770th official goal in my professional career, my first words go straight to Pele. There’s no player in the world who hasn’t been raised listening to stories about his games, his goals and his achievements, and I am no exception. And for that reason, I’m filled with joy and pride as I acknowledge the goal that puts me on top of the world’s goal scoring list, overcoming Pele’s record, something that I could never dreamed of while growing up as a child from Madeira.”

The Juventus striker, Cristiano Ronaldo announced his acknowledgements on being named a world’s top scorer for all-time after a Champions League disappointment. It has taken him years and years of hard work and consistency to reach Pele’s record. The football fans, pundits, and supporters are now wondering if the bar that Ronald raised will ever be achieved with any other player soon. Remember Ronaldo has one or two more years to play and there is no doubt that he will again register his name on the score sheet. While many people are asking themselves different questions, the most pressing question right now is “Who does have a potential to over-top Ronaldo anytime soon?” No answer for now. Let’s leave it for time to decide.
