After two bids were overruled by the Parisians, it seems as if Los Blancos may have eventually got their main target of the summer at the third bid. Mbappe is going to join the club he always dreamed of if the both side agree to the terms and conditions this Friday, 27 August 2021 as the negotiations progress today. Mbappe, 22 years-old has a contract with PSG that ends in 2022 and has repeatedly turned down new deals regardless the fact that the French club bought other world class players such as Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi over the summer window.
Real submitted bids of €160m and €170m to try and sign the French young player however both were rejected by the PSG. Then Real Madrid launched another new bid worth €170m + €10m in variables and the deal is set to be accepted by the French side as the talks are moving in the right direction. But, if Real Madrid fails to complete a deal to sign Mbappe this month, they might agree with the player to sign a pre-contract agreement for him to join on a free transfer next summer.
The president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has repeatedly said that Kylian won’t leave PSG this year despite the fact that he might join Real Madrid next summer on free transfer. Speaking after Champions League draw PSG president said, “I’ve been very clear, we’ve been very clear. The club’s stance is clear. We will not change it or repeat it.”
However, the Parisians’ Sporting director Leonardo was indirectly red-flagged that Kylian should join the La Liga giant this month. He told RMC Sport, “Kylian wants to leave, it seems clear to me. If Real Madrid makes an offer, it seem clear to me.. I am taking a position that I think is clear to everyone.
“If he wants to leave, we are not going to hold him back, but it will be on our terms. Kylian always promised that he would never leave the club for free. That’s what he’s always told us. We have no plans to talk to Real Madrid again. The deadline is August 31 at midnight. That’s how the transfer window is, but we are clear about this: we want to keep him and extend his deal.
“But we’re not going to let him go for less than what we pain for him, when we still owe Monaco money.”
Monaco sold Mbappe on deal worth €180m in 2018 after a season-long loan. But, PSG has only paid €145m while they are planning to pay the remaining when Mbappe renews his deal or when PSG sell him.
It’s been a busy summer for Real Madrid having lost club captain Ramos and his defensive compatriot Raphael Varane as well as Martin Odegaard, while adding only David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.
If the deal goes through it will be the second-most expensive of all time along with the €180m PSG technically paid Monaco to sigh French striker in the first place. Be reminded that Neymar move is the first-most expensive when he joined PSG on a deal worth €222m in 2017. It will just be the latest deal in what is determining to be a historic summer of big moves with Mbappe joining the other players who changed their teams like Ramos, Romelu Lukaku, Jack Grealish, Jadon Sancho and of course the six times Ballon D’or holder.
Oh!! It might not be over yet since Christiano Ronaldo is reportedly pushing for a move to Premier League’s tittle holder Manchester City.
