A 62-year-old woman living in Kirehe District in Gahara Sector was stabbed to death last night, authorities say, suspecting her 25-year-old son because they had been in a quarrel for some time.

The incident took place last night in Rwamugima Village in Butezi Cell in Gahara Sector.

Gahara Sector Executive Secretary Nkundimana Faustin told IGIHE that the woman was stabbed to death last night around midnight by an unidentified man despite her son’s alleged involvement in the altercation.

“The woman was living in the house but she was living with her two grandchildren. Before she lived with her son, they would argue that the boy wanted to eat and not work.

He went on to say that they got into a heated argument when the family asked the boy to live alone after renting a house about 150 meters away, in early January 2021 that the boy had brought three other young men who were drinking cannabis at home and his mother beat him up and interrogated him.

“So last night one of the children woke up and went out and found his grandmother kicking him and found him full of blood and the child ran to tell his father that he was dead,” he said.

The 25-year-old was immediately arrested along with three other young men who had recently beaten the woman, urging residents to avoid conflicts and appearances and call on the authorities to help resolve them instead of waiting for some to kill, the official said.

The young man and three others have been handed over to Gahara RIB Station while an investigation is underway to determine the killer’s neck circumcision.
